My condolences, dave®. He looks to have had a good life, though. Reminds me a bit of my old buddy, Punch (mackerel-striped tabby).

Condolences. But 17 is a wonderful age for a cat and I'm sure you gave him a wonderful life.

He's the one who didn't like to be photographed, correct?

That's right - he thought cameras stole the soul!

Just to give out a few details, we think Nicki suffered a stroke Friday night. He was disoriented and eventually not even able to stand, and so Saturday we took him in to the vet. He was generally pretty healthy, though he'd been showing signs of age the past few months or so, and had been suffering from stomatitis, a form of mouth sores, for almost two years.

A good cat, and we'll miss him, but we know he's having a good time in the Big Meadow in the Sky!

Dave...I think you came close to capturing that soul in the photo.

My sympathy--it's good you have two more cats. When I lost my only cat, I was devastated, the pain was so acute. By chance, I ended up adopting two litter sisters when they were 6 years old. They died within two years of each other, but having one helped me so much when I lost dearest, beloved and still sorely missed Miss Tasha.

    Love the ones you're with....

I wish! We've got three officially - and then the three "hang-arounders".

    Plus Mighty Rex Rabbit!

But Nicki was the "Grand Old Man" of the house...

    Awww... thanks!

You usually only got one shot with Nicki - then he'd run away!

Oh, Dave. I'm so sorry about Nicki. Fiona, Oski, and Rex must miss him, too.

Those little furry folks sure make life rich, don't they?

    Peace,

Our condolences.... it's hard when you lose a member of the family. We too know that Nicky is having a grand time in the big meadow in the sky and probably making some new friends.... Carlos, Owsley, etc.
